MarathonMitra organiser FAQ
From your first small 5K (even low ₹10–₹100 tickets) to big city marathons — online registration, ₹0 runner platform fee, India-wide
What MarathonMitra offers organisers in India
MarathonMitra is India's running community and event discovery platform. For event organisers — from a small club planning a first run with a tiny field or budget-friendly tickets (e.g. ₹10–₹100 style community pricing), up to large marathons — we help you list and host road races, trail runs, and multi-distance events with online ticket sales and race registration. Runners pay ₹0 MarathonMitra platform fee; Enterprise registration uses a simple ₹499 listing fee per event plus a 5% platform fee per registration, with payment gateway charges included. Bibs, dashboards, weekly payouts, and transparent pricing apply in Patna, Jaipur, metros, and nationwide.
The questions below focus on how that works in practice: platform fees, GST, payouts, categories, refunds, verification, and how to get help. For fees and the takeout calculator, use Pricing; to apply, use Become an organiser.
Runner-focused questions live on the main FAQ.
Start with the organiser application: tell us about your organisation, typical events, and contact details. Our team reviews applications to keep listings trustworthy for runners.
Once approved, you can access the organiser dashboard to create events, set up ticket categories, monitor registrations, and use tools such as bib allocation. Approval timelines can vary; we may ask for clarifications or additional details.
Yes. There are two ways to work with MarathonMitra. Listing only: a flat ₹3,499 per event publishes your event page (date, location, distances, organiser details) for discovery by runners across India, while you handle registrations on your own website or offline — with no per-registration charges.
Registration + listing (Enterprise): a ₹499 listing fee per event plus a 5% platform fee per registration that includes all payment gateway charges, support, and Email/WhatsApp communication, with GST on the listing fee and platform fee. You get end-to-end online registration, secure payments, automated Email/WhatsApp confirmations, an organiser dashboard, and weekly payouts.
GST (18%) applies only on MarathonMitra’s own fees (listing fee and platform fee) in both cases. If you only need visibility, choose listing-only; if you want us to run registrations, the Enterprise registration plan is built for that.
MarathonMitra is built for running event discovery. Your event gets a dedicated page — date, city, distances, and organiser details — visible to runners searching for marathons, 10Ks, 5Ks, and trail runs across India, not only in your host city.
Listing-only (₹3,499 flat per event) is ideal when you want promotion and SEO visibility while handling registrations on your own site. Registration + listing adds online ticket sales, payments, weekly payouts, and automated confirmations on the same platform that runners already use to find races.
Many organisers combine MarathonMitra discovery with social promotion and local running clubs to maximise sign-ups. The more visible your event, the easier it is for runners nationwide to find and register.
MarathonMitra is designed for transparent, predictable organiser costs — from first-time 5K hosts to large marathon directors. Runners pay ₹0 MarathonMitra platform fee, which keeps your ticket price attractive and competitive.
Listing-only costs ₹3,499 flat per event with no per-registration charges — a practical option if you only need discoverability. The Enterprise registration plan uses a ₹499 listing fee per event and a 5% platform fee per registration (no separate payment gateway fee), plus GST on the listing fee and platform fee — with weekly payouts.
Use the free takeout calculator on the pricing page to see what you keep per registration before you commit — no signup required.
Discovery plus friction-free registration drives sign-ups. MarathonMitra puts your event in front of runners actively looking for races, with clear event pages and secure online payments.
Automated Email and WhatsApp confirmations, an organiser dashboard, and registration exports help you operate professionally — which builds runner trust and repeat participation.
Whether you are launching a charity 5K or a city half marathon, reaching MarathonMitra's runner community gives you access to an audience that already cares about running events in India.
Yes. MarathonMitra works for organisers in metros (Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, Kolkata, Pune), emerging hubs (Jaipur, Patna, Lucknow, Indore, Nagpur, Kochi, Guwahati), and smaller towns. The same tools and pricing apply nationwide.
Your event is discoverable by runners across India — a runner in Bengaluru can find your Patna 10K, and a Delhi runner can discover your Goa trail run. City pages and event search on MarathonMitra support local and out-of-town participation.
MarathonMitra combines discovery, registration, and transparent pricing in one platform built specifically for running — not generic event ticketing. Runners pay ₹0 MarathonMitra platform fee, organisers get predictable costs, and both sides benefit from a stable, India-focused product.
You can list for visibility only (₹3,499) or run full Enterprise registrations (₹499 listing + 5% platform fee per registration, payment gateway included). Features include secure payments, automated confirmations, bib and registration tools, and weekly payouts — backed by organiser support.
If you want more reach, affordable registration infrastructure, and a platform runners trust for marathons and runs, MarathonMitra is built for that job.
MarathonMitra is built only for running — not movies, concerts, or generic event directories. You get nationwide runner discovery, online registration, ₹0 extra runner fee, a 5% all-in platform fee (gateway, support, Email / WhatsApp included), and weekly payouts.
Entertainment and city-event tools treat a marathon like any other ticket. Timing companies are excellent on race day. MarathonMitra covers listing, tickets, communication, and settlement — and you can still use a timing partner for the clock.
Yes. Many community runs, school or club 5Ks, and charity events start with a small field and affordable entry. If you only need visibility, the listing-only plan (₹3,499 flat per event) may be enough while you handle sign-ups elsewhere.
If you want MarathonMitra to run registrations, Enterprise pricing is simple: ₹499 listing fee per event and a 5% platform fee per registration that already includes payment gateway charges, plus GST on the listing fee and platform fee. Because the platform fee is a percentage, low-priced tickets pay proportionally low fees. Runners do not pay a separate MarathonMitra platform fee — they pay the ticket you set.
Use the takeout calculator on the pricing page to model any ticket price. The same rules apply whether you are in a metro or a smaller town.
You can list road races, trail runs, charity runs, corporate runs, multi-distance events (e.g. 5K, 10K, half and full marathon on the same day), and other timed or untimed running formats, subject to our content and compliance guidelines.
Events should be genuine, legal, and clearly described (dates, venue, distances, refund policy where applicable). If you are unsure whether your format fits, contact us with a short outline.
Yes. MarathonMitra is built for organisers across India — metros (e.g. Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru), emerging running hubs (e.g. Patna, Jaipur, Lucknow, Guwahati), tier-2 and tier-3 cities, and smaller towns. The same transparent pricing and tools apply; your event is discoverable nationwide on the platform.
Runners do not pay a separate MarathonMitra “platform fee” on top of your ticket. They pay the ticket price you set.
Organisers choose between two paths: listing-only (₹3,499 flat per event, no per-registration charges) or Enterprise registration + listing (₹499 listing fee per event and a 5% platform fee per registration including payment gateway charges, plus GST on the listing fee and platform fee).
GST at 18% applies to MarathonMitra’s fees (the ₹499 listing fee and the 5% platform fee), not to the entire ticket amount. GST on the platform fee equals 0.9% of the ticket price, so the total platform deduction is 5.9%.
GST is charged as CGST 9% + SGST 9% for organisers registered in Bihar, and as IGST 18% for organisers in other states. MarathonMitra issues GST tax invoices for the listing fee and platform fee, and GST-registered organisers may claim input tax credit on them as per law.
For GST-registered organisers, GST TCS of 0.5% of the taxable value is also deducted from payouts as required by law. Where your ticket price includes your own GST, TCS is calculated on the value excluding that GST.
These fees apply to the Enterprise registration + listing plan (not the ₹3,499 listing-only option). You pay a one-time ₹499 listing fee per event (₹588.82 including 18% GST) before the event page goes live. It is non-refundable once the page is published, and each separate event — including a new edition of the same event — needs a fresh listing fee.
On every registration, MarathonMitra charges a 5% platform fee on the ticket price. It includes the platform fee and all payment gateway charges (UPI, cards, net banking and wallets), plus support and communication (email and more) — so there is no separate gateway fee. GST (18%) on the platform fee is 0.9% of the ticket price, making the total deduction 5.9%. Settlement is weekly to your bank account.
The same simple fee model applies whether you sell one category or multiple distances — there are no registration-volume tiers.
Use the takeout estimate calculator on our pricing page. Enter a ticket price to see the 5% platform fee, GST on the platform fee, GST TCS (if you are GST-registered), and your net payout per registration. For example, on a ₹1,000 ticket a GST-registered organiser receives ₹936 (₹50 platform fee, ₹9 GST, ₹5 TCS deducted).
Figures are estimates; final settlement may depend on actual sales, chargebacks, refunds, and weekly payout timing as per your agreement and dashboard. The one-time ₹499 listing fee is charged per event and is not part of the per-registration takeout line.
Enterprise registration payouts are settled weekly to your bank account after reconciliation of registrations and refunds.
For your exact schedule, settlement method, and any minimum thresholds, refer to your dashboard or the contract/onboarding materials shared by our team. Contact finance support if you need a written confirmation for your account.
Yes. You can structure multiple ticket categories or distances. The same rate applies to every registration — a 5% platform fee (payment gateway, support and communication included) plus GST on the platform fee — so fees scale with each category price.
Use the takeout calculator with each ticket price to see what you keep per registration for that category.
Organisers typically manage registrations through the MarathonMitra organiser tools: live counts, participant lists, and bib allocation workflows designed for race-day operations.
Exact features available to your account may depend on your plan and event setup. During onboarding, we walk you through the steps that match your event size and format.
Refund and cancellation policies are set by you as the organiser and must be communicated clearly to participants (e.g. on the event page and at checkout where applicable). MarathonMitra provides the infrastructure to operate registrations; legal and customer-facing policy for refunds remains with the organiser unless otherwise agreed in writing.
Operational handling of refunds may be subject to gateway rules, cut-off dates, and platform processes. For edge cases (postponements, force majeure), contact support early so we can align on runner communication and ledger treatment.
We may request organiser or entity verification (e.g. identity, bank details for payouts, event legitimacy) to reduce fraud and protect runners. Requirements vary by risk, event type, and volume.
You should also ensure you have rights to use branding, routes, and charity claims you publish. We do not provide legal advice; consult your counsel for permits, police permissions, and insurance.
Use the contact page for general and organiser inquiries, or the channels shared in your onboarding email. For urgent race-week issues, mark your message clearly with event name and date.
Response times are typically within one to two business days for non-urgent requests; critical production issues are prioritised when flagged appropriately.
The pricing page and takeout calculator describe the standard public fee model for transparency. Your final commercial terms (including any custom arrangements) are governed by the agreement you sign with MarathonMitra, which prevails if there is ever a discrepancy.
